Homecoming season in Springfield always gets me excited, and this year I wanted to do something a little different. I put together a one-of-a-kind series of homecoming portraits for students in the Springfield, IL area, and I’m so excited to share the story behind it.
What Is the Homecoming Portrait Series?
I was looking for a group of fun, creative, and passionate students heading to homecoming to be part of a one-of-a-kind portrait series. We’re talking bold, creative portraits that go way beyond your typical phone snaps, plus behind-the-scenes content so you can be a part of how it all comes together.
How the Homecoming Portraits Casting Call Worked
I selected a small group of students based on a few different factors. To be considered, students commented “HOMECOMING” on my Facebook post along with:
- Their school
- Their homecoming date
- A simple recent photo
Parents, you were welcome to comment on behalf of your student too. And if you knew someone who’d be perfect for it, tagging them was a great way to give them a shout out.
Meet Peyton and Maxwell
A special thank you to Peyton and Maxwell for joining me for their homecoming portraits. It was such a fun group early on in the series, and it got me even more excited to see what was ahead.

Why Homecoming Portraits Are Worth It
Homecoming is one of those nights that goes by in a blur. Between the outfits, the friends, and the dance, a handful of phone photos is usually all that’s left. Creative portraits give students, and their proud parents, something they’ll actually want to frame and look back on for years to come.

Want to Be Part of the Next One?
If you missed the casting call, reach out and tell me about your student and their homecoming plans, and we’ll see what’s possible. I work with students and families across Springfield, Sangamon County, and central Illinois. You can also see more of my work in the senior portraits section of the blog.
