A Cinderella Royal Ball at Chapter II in Jacksonville, IL

Some days you walk into a location and you just know it’s going to be a good one. Chapter II in Jacksonville, Illinois, was that place. Jessica and I came in with a Cinderella ball in our heads, and that grand staircase, those tall windows and the soft, moody light pretty much handed us the ballroom.

Kate wore a gorgeous ball gown from GOWNS Bridal and Formal Boutique, and Jessica did her hair, which pulled the whole fairy tale look together. I went black and white for this one because the sweeping lines of the staircase and the shape of that dress just asked for it.

Styled shoots like this are some of my favorite days because they let me slow down. I get to work through careful compositions, try unusual angles, and build the lighting around the scene. Then I edit every frame myself, cleaning up the little details so each image feels finished.
